The Krown (Rosey's) is our favorite neighborhood spot a hands down! Great craft beer selection, and the best bar food! $5 for 2 full size pretzels with homemade cheese sauce, and mmmmm; schnitzel garbage plates...

    And the bartenders!!! The best.
Don't be fooled by the sign, stop in.

Biased review: Grew up in the neighborhood and have been frequenting businesses at this location since the late 70's when I was young (w/ my parents for dinner) and it was called Tuzz's Pinnacle Grill.

Over the years it's morphed from a sit-down restaurant with a separate bar room to a straight up bar & music venue that (with a few years lapses here and there) serves seriously tasty bar food + creative, nightly specials.

As a bar, the beer has primarily been craft offerings but they always have traditional brews like Genny and the gang. And there's plenty of liquor choices as well.

The crowd has always been neighborhood focused, leaning more heavily toward the alternative side of the taste spectrum. Lots of regulars have been going for 20+ years. Many moved from the neighborhood but still hit it up nearly daily. Of course there's always a turnover with time as with any customer base.

The vibe is friendly with hugs and handshakes between many of the patrons no matter how frequently they see each other.

The live music has mostly leaned toward punk and metal but with lots of other styles on display.

As a music venue and with a younger crowd later in the night there's a bit of a turnover of both patrons and staff around 9pm. Though there's plenty of crossover, in some ways there are 2 sets of regulars. The "happy hour" crowd and the late night crowd, or A-shift and B-shift as I like to call it.

Over a period of years the interior became quite beat-up and definitely fit most thoroughly in the dive description. However, with new ownership, it's been cleaned up and though the space is the same, its once rough looking walls and floors are new, slick and clean. As a nod to its rough past, the band-sticker covered beer cooler doors have not been cleaned off. Though always a neighborhood joint, it's definitely no longer a beat-up, dingy dive-bar. (Of course, to be honest, the men's bathroom in the basement would need to be completed gutted and rebuilt to shake the dive feeling.)

I bought a house nearby a while back and still pop in with great regularity. It's by far my favorite hang out in town. I can't possibly recommend checking it out more.

It lives! One of Rochester's most idiosyncratic bar/pub/music venues is back in full swing! Not sure who the new owner is, but the Rosen Krown is continuing the tradition of the original Crown's famously funky vibe. Note... the Krown was originally known as the Rose and Crown, then  Monty's Crown after the original owner split. The Krown serves food, has a lively bar area with a wide selection of beers and a room off to the side where you can enjoy live music. If you're looking for a fun night of music from the best bands in Rochester willing to play for the door, then the Crown will fulfill that! Please not that parking is a little tight in the area immediately surrounding the crown. If you don't heed the parking signs, you will get towed!

I love this place. It's a bar just for my type of people. The music is great, the staff have a girls back if need be and they book fantastic bands!
